Delta

Posted in Activism by admin on the April 30th, 2009

As you know Delta Airlines is close to bankruptcy. Their income is less than their outgo. They are running out of money. In order to stay in business they must either take in a lot more cash or cut expenses. In today’s economy they cannot raise their fares as they will sell even fewer tickets because competition is fierce.

If you can’t take in more money the only alternative is to cut internal expenses. The first to go are the non-operating employees - the little guys on the ground have the smallest paychecks and are now doing the jobs of those who were laid off. That leaves us with the aircraft mechanics and pilots.

Of course the plane is not going to go anywhere without them, but these are the highest paid people in the company beside the executives. The bosses have said to the pilot’s union either take a pay cut or we go out of business and you have no job at all. The unions know you can’t get blood out of a turnip.

What has all this got to do with investing? I won’t buy Delta stock now as I don’t know if they will be in business next year. No, but I want you to keep this in mind as we look at the budget of the United States. Uncle Sugar is now spending way more than he is taking in in taxes. The politicians want to increase the payout for Medicare and protect (?) Social Security. These are both threatened even though they tell us they won’t touch them. Doesn’t this sound something like Delta Airlines?

There is not too much difference except Uncle can keep printing money out of thin air. (That’s what the Fed does.) As this goes on and on it means that every dollar we have is becoming watered down. We call it inflation. It is really a hidden tax.

Some time out there in the not too distant future those guys in Washington are going to tell us that YOU are going to have to take less benefits in Social Security and Medicare among many other things. “They can’t do that!” Oh yes they can! It either that or you will see your savings disappear right before your eyes called inflation.

Politicians keep promising more “entitlement” programs and these are slowly strangling the country. Many of the European countries are trying to cut back on their give-away programs, but the people vote out the politicians who want to balance budgets until some day the economy will vanish just as the Weimar Republic did in Germany. Everyone goes equally broke.

About 50% of voters don’t pay any income tax at all and they don’t care. All they know is that some smooth-talking politician is promising them more.

As a voter you have to begin to understand that you cannot have your cake and eat it too or like the Delta pilots you won’t have any airplane to fly.

The Port Fiasco - It’s a GOP Trick

Posted in Activism by admin on the April 26th, 2009

The quarterback drops back to pass and he fakes handing off to the fullback. While the onrushing tacklers go for the fullback the quarterback sneaks to the outside and hits the left uncovered tight end with the game winning Hail Mary pass to win the championship football game. In a move worthy of David Copperfield the Grand Old Party has come up with the sleight of hand move of the century.

The Republican Party is in power because Karl Rove is calling the plays better than any Democrat. His quarterback George Bush was a deserter. The opposition quarterback John Kerry was a decorated war hero. No problem. Hire a few actors to go on television in a swift boat and say that John Kerry was actually a Viet Cong colonel who tortured John McCain.

The Presidents’ father, the former President, told his son the President, “Look, I lost the Presidency because I said ‘Read my lips, no new taxes. Then I raised the taxes and I lost the Presidency. If you want to win the Presidency and become President, all you have to do is to cut taxes. Who cares if the deficit goes to a trillion dollars, and the trade deficit goes to a trillion dollars, and we bankrupt the country? You will be President, I will sit on the board of directors of the Saudi Royal Family, they will funnel billions of oil dollars into our Swiss bank accounts, and let the next President worry about it while we live on yachts in the French Riviera drinking fine French port wine.” The President answered, “O.K. Dad.”

Here is the Port Trick, otherwise known in Karl Rove’s playbook as 53 Red. The congressional elections are coming up in November. Every Republican congressman and congresswoman is doing everything possible to distance him/herself from the President’s glaring lies, mismanagement of the war in Iraq, the imminent bankruptcy of the country and the Superdome fiasco. The President, the Senate and the House are all Republican and they are all going down the drain like American jobs fleeing to China, whose new car the Geeli is about to hit the U.S. market for $9,000 and get 225 miles per gallon. This all makes Ross Perot sound like the Prophet Isaiah.

So how do the Republicans stay in power in November? The Islamic Barbarianism over a stupid cartoon has every American even more fearful and hateful of the Muslims than after 911. So Karl Rove decides to pretend to sell all of the American Shipping Ports, New York, Miami, etc. to the Muslim countries responsible for funding and planning and harboring the 911 crews. The President says to him, “Karl, we can’t do that; they’ll lynch me on the lawn of the White House.” Karl says to George, “Don’t worry about it George. Have I failed you yet?” While the country now goes wild over the prospect of Osama bin Laden and Aymen Al Zwahiri shipping nuclear weapons to Al Qaeda cells in Manhattan, the Republican congress is now going to come to the rescue like John Wayne leading the cavalry and block the sale. Then, the Republican congress people are going to say to the American people during the upcoming political campaign, “Look, we didn’t follow George Bush. We saved you from him. We stopped Osama Bin Laden from owning your ports.” Initially the bogus plan called for selling all of the American airports to Iran, but while Karl Rove and the Bushwhackers were rolling around laughing on the floor of the Oval Office at the thought of it, Karl said in a drunken stupor, “The American people may be gullible, but they aren’t that gullible.”

Do You Realize

Posted in Activism by admin on the April 24th, 2009

Do you realize the if we were to quit buying oil from the Arabs, that they would more that likely go out of business, just think about the power that this gives us over them and what they do, they are wealthy and powerful because of the USA, and the oil that we buy from them, their oil companies make billions of dollars per year, and most of it is being sold to our country.

So the question that I want to pose, is why are they allowed to import their oil to our country if we know that they support all the things that we are against, I’ve got a word that I’m fully sure that you have heard once or twice, that word it activists, naturalist, tree hugger, the other word for it is whiner, these people for no good reason, are keeping most of the oil wells in our country capped off.

And yes we still drill and find more oil every day, but they continue to put moronic rules on the oil industry in our country, and make them cap more and more wells all the time, here is some of the whining that I have heard, if we uncap the oil wells in our country, we will lose all that ecology around the areas where we allow them to open the well, would you rather lose a little of the surrounding environment, or our country, our home land.

If we could use just half of the oil wells that we have, things could be a lot different in this country, if you read my articles, then you’ve heard me talking about buying American products, this is one of those products that we could start to buy more of, if the activists would just shut up and think before they open their big mouths.

We could be keeping billions dollars that are going to the Arabs as we speak, or I guess you could locate the gas stations that use American oil and buy their gas, but that’s not the point that I’m trying to make here, the infusion of money that using American oil instead of Arab oil could bring to this country would go a long way toward curing the national debt that we carry right now.

We have a huge reserve of our own resources, and if we start to use them, this will help loosen up the strangle hold that the Arabs have on our country as far as the oil and gasoline go, but so many people in this country just don’t think before they go out and raise all kinds of hell for some ridiculous cause, that can’t possibly help anybody.

Yeah so we lose a little bit of the wilderness, to gain our independence from Arab oil, in my opinion that’s not a lot to give up, if it helps us take a little control back from the Arabs in this area, just think if we kept that 100 Billion or so dollars here in our country, every year, rather then letting the Arabs have it, it could do a lot for our country.

It stands to reason that if we keep our money in our country that it will help us out a lot more in the long run, and at the same time loosen up the Arabs grip on our oil industry, and return some of the power to our country, because if you think about it, we really are the ones in control here, just open our oil wells up, and put a moratorium on oil being imported from other countries.

HSBC Dumps European and US Property

Posted in Commerce Success, Doing Business, Promotion by admin on the April 24th, 2009

HSBC is set to start raising three billion Euros by selling off three of their largest commercial buildings. The three buildings include their headquarters in Canary Wharf some offices in New York and a building in the Champs Elysées.

The pronouncement came a week after a huge rights issue was approved worth an enormous £12.5 billion. The sale process is to be supervised by the real estate organization, CB Richard Ellis with some help for Jones Lang LaSalle. HSBC intends to trade and lease back the properties concerned for a minimum of ten years.

Having been bearing the financial crisis better than most such organisations, HSBC has not needed government aid. With the solution to the rights issue, the banking group is now one of the strongest in its industry and is continuing to prepare for any possible future acquisitions.

In a positive position to take advantage of the new opportunities, HSBC plans to sell a number of its assets that have lost their values during the economic slump. Other commercial properties with office rental are turning to desk space hire as a means of staving off loss of rental income. For an innovative approach to desk hire, take a look at Desk Space Genie.

HSBC’s Canary Wharf head office was bought only a few months after the bank bought the premises from a failing Spanish property firm, Metrovacesa, that was hit hard during the economic crisis. The profit made by the bank as a result of this sale was around £300 million.

The premises, HSBC Tower is a 100,000 square meter premises and was sold by the bank in the middle of 2007 during the pinnacle of the real estate boom in a £1.1 billion sale and leaseback deal. Unfortunately, for Metrovacesa, the deal proved rather too ambitious and HSBC ended up buying it back for £800 million.

Although having a relatively powerful financial position of HSBC, there are still concerns regarding its Household division in which keeping up the $100 billion loan portfolio to the US housing market will not be easy. Investors in the bank are also still anxious regarding the bank’s traded debt securities.

In the fall of 2008, HSBC’s market price was about thirteen billion pounds lower than the value held on the books of the bank. Partly because of this, the ratings agency, Moody, gave a negative outlook for the bank, doubting its way of dealing with the rights issue.

I Choose Rightouseness

Posted in Activism by admin on the April 19th, 2009

I am at an impasse. As November nears, I find myself, like everyone else in the country, bombarded with images and advertisments. Some tell me to vote Kerry, some tell me to vote Bush, some tell me just to vote - but all of them are telling me to do something. I was hoping to go one day without having to hear about the election, because everytime I do, I’m reminded of the fact that I still haven’t decided who would be better suited to lead the country.

I know this is probably a shock to my liberal biased Canadian freinds, who would
give thier right arm to see President Bush follow in his fathers footsteps as a one
term leader. I may not agree with his stance on Gay rights. I may not agree with his
tax policy. I may not agree with his views on abortion - but I fully support the War
on terror - including its extension into Iraq.

I believe Teddy Roosevelt said it best when he said, “If I must choose between
righteousness and peace, I choose righteousness.” Like the President a century
before, the man sitting in the Oval Office understands this - or atlease I believe he
does. I believe in peace. I support any means to maintain peace - but not at the
expense of our security.

For those who claim that Saddam was NOT an imminent threat to us, all I can say is
- maybe. But not removing a man like him, is a risk I would never want my
President, correction, OUR President to take. So if John Kerry, ever wants my vote -
because lord knows, as a Democrat, I really want to give it to him - he must
understand that we can no longer sit idly by and watch a dictator rape his country
and its people. We are for freedom of speech - everwhere. We are for freedom to
worship - everywhere. We are for freedom to learn - for everybody. AND because in
our time, you can build a bomb in your country and bring it into mine - it is very
much my buisness and my concern what goes on in your country.

This is why we went into Iraq - not because of WMD’s or whatever was said - but
because the men making the decisions in Washington understand that above all
else, we are for freedom from tyranny, whether in the guise of political opression,
religious fanatisism, economic slavery - everywhere. This idea can’t just be that. For
all the John Kerrys that claim to understand this, who talk the talk - they don’t truly
get it. This can not just be met with support, but has to be matched by our strength
- economically and materially.

And so, after writing this - I can only hope that Senator Kerry, comes to the same
udnerstanding as our President on the issue of the war. I really do hope he wins, but
if he does not change his opinion, come November - I’ll push the button next to the
name Bush.

The FTC Purports and Misrepresents Their Law Enforcement Experience as It Attacks Business

Posted in Activism by admin on the April 19th, 2009

We should all give much kudos to the Federal Trade Commission. We sincerely compliment you on your misdirection, smoke screams and use of self-aggrandizement to further justify the on-going ability to govern, lead, legislate, regulate, and enforce law in the franchising industry. Many of the fear tactics and public relations ploys at the Federal Trade Commission show tactics straight out of the Machiavellian Play Book. Therefore we believe some sort of award is deserved for such strict adherence to that methodology.

The Federal Trade Commission has very well executed these plays time and time again. There is a significant problem however with all of this. That problem is the franchising industry is on the same team of those ideals you claim to be promoting. Truth, Justice and the American Way at the Justice Department and Free Markets, Free Enterprise, Competition, Consumer Rights at the Federal Trade Commission. However, in reality what we find being done at the Federal Trade Commission is a systematic blocking off of lanes during rush hours, when there has not been any franchising roadwork on the highway in ten years? Where no major accidents or pile-ups have been caused by franchisors. Yet we as franchisors are treated like Islamic HazMat drivers under the influence with bogus ID. The franchising company leadership is nothing close. Unless you consider under the influence as being under the influence of innovation, capitalism and entrepreneurship. Last time I checked that was what built the country in the first place. Well it appears that being feared and respected has always been runner up to being loved and respected as per the Prince.

The patch work of federal and state franchise rules reminds me of this I-95 corridor and Mixing Bowl where all your laws come together along with all the state registration laws for a complete quagmire of debris in rush hour. During economic expansion periods franchising must flourish and under times of economic uncertainty franchising can pick up the slack in the job markets while lessening the blow of economic hardship. Attacking the franchising model and setting up roadblocks is not law enforcement although it does create criminals out of hard working folks who are holding up the economy. Franchisors are better suited at law enforcement, enforcing natural laws; such as law of the fittest through direct competition and enforcing standards for consumers based on their desires and purchases for such. How on Earth can a government agency, which does not have to turn a profit or uphold any sense of ‘market-reality’ of consumer supply and demand in the market place expect to do that from afar, by merely putting words on paper? What about the laws of free markets, free men, right of contract, supply and demand, competitive industries or consumer choice? Are those not laws? Are those laws any less serious than the Federal Trade Commission’s words on paper of rules and regulations which have no basis or market reality and are written by those who have never had to make a paycheck and discussed by attorneys who make money manipulating the laws of the market and those on paper for their own personal gain, without contributing to the perfect system of franchising and those of free markets?

Isn’t it time that the Federal Trade Commissions law enforcement experience include a ‘reality check’ and follow the natural laws of our own capitalistic system? Enforcing laws, which are of detriment to the economy, jobs, capital flows, industries, franchising is not helping anyone, as a matter of fact as I have shown it is hurting everyone. If this is the law enforcement experience that the FTC purports it is a very sad day for the Free World and those who participate in the greatest market place of all, yes I speak of the United States of America, where all things are said to be possible.

The Federal Trade Commission creates unworkable scenarios, rules and over disclosure and then waits for society to deliver them a criminal. Then promotes the fact that they have now found a criminal “Exhibit A” to justify their case for further rules and regulations. That is not law enforcement that is just ‘left’ of a very bad joke of the direction and trend in America. Finding criminals and filing cases is wonderful and perhaps if you stretch the definition you could purport; law enforcement experience as they so tactically did in their crafted report on franchising. Yet the criminals you pick as targets are merely entrepreneurs, business men and women or fast moving comets of commitment, dedication, perseverance who believe in country, capitalism and freedom. I find it fascinating in the conclusion of this report that the Federal Trade Commission on franchising that it interprets all the incoming comments from 1995 and 1997 as proof of further need to provide more disclosure to franchisees. I find in summary of reviewing all those comments the exact opposite.

I think the Federal Trade Commission’s Franchise Division ought to be shut down and return the monies of their ill-gotten gains to the franchising industry. Although the economic loss to this county would be in the 100’s of billions of dollars and right now the entire Federal Government cannot come up with that amount of money that it owes in damages to the business community. Think about it you moronic Bureaucrats.

The Likelihood of Succeeding on the Euro Lotto and Does Any Player Stand a Real Chance of Winning

Posted in Coin Flips, Cyber Lifestyle, Online Gambling by admin on the April 19th, 2009

The chances of scooping the Euro Millions jackpot is a distant 1 in seventy six million but the prospect of acquiring a money prize is a somewhat decent one : 24. If the jackpot is not won on a given lotto draw, it is carried forward to the following week that will result in an ever increasing jack-pot value. New rules brought in on the 9/02/07 specify the amount of consecutive roll-overs to eleven, with the jackpot rolled down to smaller prize levels on the 11th lottery draw when the prize is not won.

The Euromillions lotto or the Euro lotto, as it is commonly acknowledged, gathers the ticket receipts of the 9 partaking European countries giving a super European Lottery jackpot. With the sum of nations joining the Euro on the increase, that will without a doubt lead to more countries partaking in the Euro lotto. An increase in the amount of individuals partaking in the European Lotto will result in a prolonged growth of the already massive Euro Lotto jackpots.

The new regulations likewise initiated Euro Millions Super-Draw which go on twice each year and offer jackpots in the region of 100 million pounds. The difference with Super-Draws is that the jackpot has to be collected during the week of the lotto draw; as a result, when there is no lotto ticket corresponding, all the numbers drawn and the top prize will be distributed to the lotto ticket holder(s) in the next winning prize tier.

Every participant has to choose five primary numbers from one to fifty and two Lucky Star numbers from one to nine. During the Euro Millions draw five primary plus two lucky-star numbers are then picked out at random from two draw machines containing numbered balls.

A Great Motorcycle Ride in Mexico: Queretaro

Posted in Bikes by admin on the April 17th, 2009

A beautiful ride across cities and places named World Heritage by the Unesco, through an splendid protected natural area and ending in a surrealistic garden by artist Sir Edward James. Just keep reading…
The ride starts in Queretaro City at 5,970 ft above sea level.

Queretaro is a colonial city founded more than 500 years ago and named World Heritage by the Unesco in 1996 . It’s located in the center of the country two hours North Mexico City. Nowadays it has become one of the most dynamic cities in Mexico due to the surrounding industrial parks where many international companies are located.

The first stop is just 45 minutes away: “La Pea de Bernal” (The “Rock of Bernal”). We are talking about the third biggest rock in the world and the highest in Mexico. At its feet a quaint little town were you can stop for a soda, lunch or spend the night. You can also find nice little souvenirs. Whatever you decide to do, this place is a must.

If you like rock climbing, you are in the right place too!

The road to Bernal doesn’t present any major challenge, most of the road is straight with just a few extended curves… but just after passing Bernal it starts to get fun!

Surrounded by an arid landscape due the high content of lime in the soil, you start with a very interesting section of twisties, one after another, up and down, a technical road between the mountains for about 30 miles. The landscape changes a bit as you advance and a few miles later you are in the middle of a semidesert.

After this twisty section you then continue on a straight part of the road. A few more miles down the route and you find a military checkpoint… Don’t worry about it, they are normally courteous people just looking for arm and drug smugglers.

After the control point the curves and the fun start again. As you get to “Pea Blanca” (”White Rock” in English) - by the way if you need gas, this is the place to stop and fill it up - you start climbing the mountains twist after twist.

I love this part: most of the ride you can clearly see three or four turns in front of you, and as it is a low traffic road, you can enjoy yourself taking the best lines (always keeping it in the safe side if you know what I mean!).

After climbing for a while you notice how things start to change and suddenly what were rocks, sand and cactus are now pine trees. It’s beautiful.. You feel the change of temperature and then you reach “La Puerta del Cielo” (The Door of Heavens”) the highest point in this ride.

We are now at about 9200 feet above sea level… The turns continue but now you are going downhill. Remember to adjust your riding to that fact. Unfortunately I have seen more than one forgetting about it that and paying the consequences.

As you start descending you ride through a small town called Pinal the Amoles… descend, turn turn, descend turn turn, descend turn turn… I love it! About 10 miles after Pinal de Amoles, the weather starts to change again and gets warmer. The vegetation also suffers a sudden transformation.

You keep devouring the road and you cannot help but getting marveled of the landscape around you… Just remember to keep your eyes on the road! Turn, turn… You are in the middle of the Sierra Gorda protected area and home of multiple plants and animals.

You continue descending till you reach Jalpan de Serra the most important town in the Sierra Gorda and place where Father Junipero Serra built one of his most important missions in the area before heading north to build the Missions in California. These missions were also named World Heritage by the Unesco in 2003.

In Jalpan you can find a couple of simple but nice hotels and some restaurants. Another possibility to spend the night is to ride a few more miles west to a place called Conca where you ‘ll find a hotel with Spa to relax from the day’s ride and get ready for the rest of the trip.

After Jalpan our next stop and final destination is Xilitla,
so you head north-east till you reach the state of San Luis Potosi.

A few miles after crossing the state limits in the middle of the mountains, at about 3,300 ft asl, in a rain forest of incredible vegetation you get to Xilitla.

This town was chosen by Sir Edward James, a surrealistic British artist - also noble and rich -, to spend the rest of his life. It is in this place he built a huge garden, a private zoo and a meditation place in the middle of the jungle. Its very difficult to describe it with words… Maybe the photos in this site can help: http://www.junglegossip.com/.

In Xilitla you can stay in the Castillo “The Castle” the house of former Sir Edward James’ right hand and friend: Plutarco Gastelum. This exclusive Bed and Breakfast is unique in its kind and you can see, feel and breath the influence of the artist everywhere.

Another possibility to spend the night is to ride a bit more to the north and stay in Ciudad Valles an important city of San Luis Potosi state where you will find all kind of hotels and restaurants, night life etc.

My recommendation… stay at the Castillo, forget about your ride and enjoy for a whole day this Mexican Shangri La.

After spending the whole day in Xilitla prepare for a long ride back to Queretaro. For this one I like to leave early in the morning and keep, if possible, a fast pace. Turn, turn…

We are talking about many miles and literally hundreds of twisties… Once my wife counted them… She stopped when she was at the 500th and we hadn’t arrived back to Queretaro City yet!

It’s so fun that the time flies and suddenly you realize it’s all over and you would like to turn around and do it again…

You know the feeling right?

Another possibility from Xilitla is to head to the famous Huasteca Potosina a zone of exuberant rivers, waterfalls and springs… But that area deserves a whole article by itself. I will be writing it in the future.
