Mother, Child and Depression

Posted in Great Psychology Tips by admin on the June 30th, 2008

“I remember my mother’s prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life.”
These are a few words said by Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865). Mom is the first word uttered by a child, the guardian angel “Mom” is the sole source of love and affection to the child, and the security and warmth of her lap remains there for a long time, even if she is not there, giving us strength and urge to live when we are need it most. The centre of his life is his mother, so, her love, care, smiles, tears, anger, frustration, depression, prayer… affect the child. A child’s intellectual and social development flourishes closely around his mother, influenced by her immensely. A cheerful mother makes everything seem so perfect for him, in the same way the behaviour of a depressed mother may give an impression that he is unwanted and he is not able to make her happy. That creates confusion in a child’s mind about his worthiness and he also may become depressed.

Depressed mother’s depressed child and a bleak future…
Research studies show that parental depression is a major risk factor for anxiety, depression and troublesome behaviour in the children and make them violent at the same time. Children of depressed mother are more vulnerable to be victimized by depression than those of normal mothers. The children of mothers suffering from depression during postnatal period are found to be fighting with their peers more often and resulted in injuries followed by suspension from school. “Although it appears that violence is not an inevitable outcome of postnatal depression, it is one that is made more likely under conditions of continued adversity. Early and recurring exposure to maternal depression puts children at risk for the overt pathway toward serious violence” says researcher Dale F. Hay, Ph.D., of Cardiff University. The severity of mother’s depression has more impact on the child than the chronicity of the mother’s depression no matter what is the age of the child. The reason being, a child finds it difficult to regulate attention and emotion from a mother who is depressed. The feeling of lack of love and attention makes the child angry and inattentive, so the propensity to violence increases. The loss caused by his psychological condition is so serious that the whole future of this depressed and angry child remains at stake. A mother’s depression strangulates his childhood’s innocence and faith, and his whole future may be ruined afterwards.

Psychological help for both mother and child is necessary
This is a strong acknowledgement of environmental influences on the child’s mental health. The depression in the mother or in the family should not creep into the child. The importance of psychological help under the given circumstances is beyond question. Both mother and child should be treated with medications of depression, like therapies and antidepressants, for obvious reasons. Children respond more quickly to environmental changes and psychological therapies. If a mother is depressed due to problems in the marital relationship, it is important for the child’s normal growth that the couple considers psychological help for the same. For example if a father does not protect the child from his mother’s assaulting and do not cover up for the attentions he needs from his mother, the child may turn to a timid and panicky person who would be frightened by darkness, a close door, nightmares and a list of similar aspects. The connotation more simplified is, the depressed mother needs to treat herself for the sake of the child. Taking antidepressants, something like Xanax, during the postnatal months prove to be helpful in cognitive and temperament development of the child. At the later stage, if the depression continues with the mother, psychological therapies from a psychiatrist becomes very important for the normal mental health of the child.

My Mom is the best!
If you ask a child who is the best, he would answer instantly with a big confident smile, “My Mom is the best!” A simple memory of the mother brings smile to his face. A mother’s depression may take away that precious smile forever. Let every mother save that smile, and save the future of the child.

How Exactly Do You Market Your Niche Product or Program?

Posted in Marketing Center by admin on the June 28th, 2008

I was brand new to this nice product marketing thing less than 2 years ago and I have to say that if you feel lost and overwhelmed I know exactly how you feel. (By the way “niche product” and “niche program” are one and the same - both things you are aiming to sell to your niche market) I made many mistakes and lived to tell the tale - and boy did it pay off!

I was the number one computer phobic, clueless dumbo when I first came across this way of doing business. All I knew was this seemed like a way to ditch my 9 to 5 job (that I’d been stuck in for 26 years!). So I took a deep breath and dived in.

If you are like me you will read everything you can find and soon learn that opinions are like rear ends - everyone’s got one. But I realized after a while that I kept coming back to some very basic ways go about marketing niche products - and it is these that are the key to your success.

1. Find a niche market

2. Find a niche program or product.

3. Sell the product to the market.

The first and maybe not so obvious is find your niche market. Notice I said first find your market - not your product. I remember frantically looking for great products I thought would set the world on fire. Guess what? No one else thought the same. Result - no sales. Eventually the penny dropped and I started finding the market first and then finding a product to match.

How do you find a hungry niche market? Find what they are typing into search engines. How? Well there are many great products to help. The one I use the most (Good Keywords) also happens to be free! Just go to Google and type in “Good Keywords Softnik Technologies” and you will find where to download it free.

A great place to find your niche products once you have established your hot market is Clickbank.com - If you are not a member then join now, and you will have access to over 10,000 digital products that cover every niche there is. And it is digital products that are easiest to start selling if you are new. Clickbank deal with all the order processing and delivery so you just have to concentrate on sendng your customers.

The established way to go on and sell your products is through pay per click advertising or having a website. Both these work but can be difficult to learn in the your early stages - and why make it difficult for yourself?

There is a 100% effective niche marketing strategy, almost “undercover” way to get to the top of the search engine rankings using articles about your niche products. It is a system put together by Nathan Stark and it enabled him to bring in over $3 million in sales in one year. This is something I was totally skeptical about - until I tried it! I have to admit you need to put in a bit of effort, but it soon became apparent that this new technique rewards you thousands of times over in the form of sales. For only 60 - 90 days work an ongoing stream of customers is created for life! Wow - was I taken aback!

I hope you pursue your niche product marketing business because I have to say, hand on heart, it is the best thing I ever did - but remember it’s not something for nothing. Do the basics right and you will be richly rewarded.

Dynamic Workshops - Success Rules to Practice

Posted in Internet Publishing Resources by admin on the June 28th, 2008

Proper Preparation and Practice Prevent Poor Performance.

Even though the structure of a workshop may appear to be looser and more flexible than other presentations, it is imperative to be properly prepared - even more prepared than for other venues. In the type of workshop I prefer and give the most often, I gear it toward those who are in attendance. This means that I have to be prepared for a variety of situations, because everyone is different. Their feedback, questions, comments and needs are all different. If I am giving a two-hour workshop, I have enough material and activities planned for at least four hours, so that if one of my plans doesn’t work for this particular group, I have another direction I can switch to with ease.

Plan transitions with care.

Smooth transitions are important during any kind of presentation. If we jump from one topic to another too quickly and without any warning, or what I call “bridging,” we can leave our audience behind, so that they miss some of the new material and/or topic area. Just a short introductory sentence or description of where and why we are going in a certain direction should suffice. You can tell a brief story, sum up what you have been saying, ask a question or introduce the next topic with some sort of attention getting device.

Don’t hesitate to give assignments and/or homework.

Preferring workshops that continue at least into a second week, I always give the participants assignments to work on (with the statement that “there will be no punishment for not doing the homework”). A good number do work on the assignments and are delighted and proud to share their results. The more we expect from our students, the more they will expect from themselves and make the effort to please themselves and us.

Remember that Murphy’s Law is usually working.

So what can go wrong, will. Patricia Fripp, a well known speaker once said “Never assume, always confirm.” To the point of almost seeming obsessive, I feel that getting in touch with the meeting planner to confirm time, date, and location, along with what is expected of me and what I expect in the way of equipment and setup is imperative.

Otherwise, we may find that somewhere along the line, there has been some miscommunication which can prove to be disastrous. Also, think of all of the things that might go wrong - your handouts didn’t arrive, the bulb on the projector blows the minute you turn it on, the directions of how to get there are incorrect, and on and on. Just leave earlier than you need to, so that you will have lots of extra time to take care of any unforeseen problems and details that might occur.

Finally, make sure that you are having FUN!

By approaching every workshop with the attitude that it’s going to be a blast, you will guarantee that the participants will have fun too. In addition, realize that people learn in the proportion to the amount of fun they are having!

Passive Income for Musicians - My Top Music Affiliate Programs

Posted in Online Music by admin on the June 24th, 2008

Recently, there was a discussion on the MusicThoughts list regarding how to develop passive income as a musician. Of course, there are many types of passive income open to musicians, but this discussion in particular involved using affiliate programs to earn money.

For the newbie, affiliate programs are program online that allow you to earn money by selling products or services that you do not own. Companies like Commission Junction, LinkShare, ClickBank offer a variety of a affiliate programs on every subject. While companies like Amazon.com (books, music, and more), MP3DownloadHQ (free music downloads) offer more specific products or services.

Building a successful affiliate income is NOT easy. And as internet companies come and go, they are also not a hugely reliable source of income for the long-term. I prefer to focus on offering products and services for my active websites, but most of my websites were created with affiliates in mind. Consequently, I’ve learned the affiliate game quite well.

Most people don’t like sharing how much they earn from passive income. So finding those stats Will be difficult. But frankly, I prefer helping folks with facts.

So, here’s a couple notes on the various passive internet income sources I earn or have earned in the past:

1. Google Adsense.
Google CAN be great, but a lot of it depends on what keywords your site is focused on. Head over to PixelFast offers a great Overture Keywords and Bid Amounts Tool and you can find out how much people bid on certain types of keywords through overture.

Having done testing which got me banned from Google I learned a few things when I was using Google Adsense. I found on the average, I made about pittance on each of my random websites. Some however, did MUCH better. Namely the ‘free music downloads’ websites.

You’ll note at PixelFast that companies bid heavily for those keywords with clickthrus averaging at about 45c per click. Seventy percent of the income I earned on Google was from one free music download website that somehow made it high on the search results. I’m not allowed to say how much I made, but you can do the math when a site gets approximately 500 unique visits a day and has a 5-10% clickthru rate.

The point is if you create and promote webpages with high impact keywords, you will do fairly well.

2. Affiliate Programs.
Since I’m no longer with Google, I’ve sense learned to find other alternatives using Google style ads. You can those on my Directory of Free Music Downloads as an example.

I’ve found other affiliate programs to fill the gaps lost by Google through:
Clickbank. I’ve focused primarily on free music downloads. The big problem I have with Clickbank is that my Mozilla browser at home doesn’t like their redirects. But I still earn about $500 per month from Clickbank.

MP3Dollars. This is a free music downloads site for MP3DownloadHQ. Their affiliate links are good redirects. So I’ve made them much more prominent so as not to lose income that might’ve been lost from Clickbank. The affiliate program is solid paying 50% of the money they earn. So I earn about $500 per month from them. Best of all, it’s paid weekly!

Amazon.com. Usually earns me about $50 a month. And this comes from a lot of heavy referrals from my Celtic MP3s Music Magazine.

Commission Junction. Their redirects seem to have the same problem as Clickbank. I mainly use them for web hosting services that earn about $150 per month.

Linkshare. I’ve used it for years. Earned no money (like the vast majority of affiliate programs I’ve tried). I did sign up for iTunes earlier this month. And we’ll see if that changes matters at all.
I also earn another $100-150 per month from the Bards Crier Music Marketing and Promotion Ezine’s various affiliations with IMHO some of the best music marketers out there. Course, I also have a decent online CD sales income, and other artistic projects that earn me money (and I still have a day job for at least another year).

3. The Key to remember when you’re making money with affiliate programs is really to blend it into your website.
For instance, if you go to thebards.net. You can download our MP3 “Tolkien (The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings)” on the homepage. It downloads from amazon.com using my affiliate link. So it creates another cookie which hopefully will earn me more income from future amazon.com orders from that customer.

Prominent ads also work like at my Directory of Free Music Downloads. Meaning, Google has really hit upon a great style of advertising. Oh, and Vertical ads out perform horizontal ads.

I’m also a big proponent of creating a website that will earn you income as well as popularity. Again, check out the Celtic MP3s Music Magazine. The site is designed for two purposes:
Promote independent Celtic music by luring in signed Celtic music fans of Enya, The Chieftains, etc. It’s a technique I learned from David Nevue’s How to Successfully Promote Your Music on the Internet and has proved exceptionally profitable, and
Promote my music. You’ll see a lot of links and information about the Brobdingnagian Bards and my own solo Celtic music recordings.
There is one other aspect I would like to point out that will make whatever you do more money. It’s sales letters. Quite honestly, I detest hard sales. I don’t typically care for sales letters online. But they DO perform well.

Some of the best-selling webpages are composed of one long sales letter like some of the stuff you’ll see at indiebiz.com. I’ve no doubt that David makes well-over $3000 a month for any of his webpages just from some of his passive income sales letters. By learning about copywriting, you can create webpages to perform just as well to promote your affiliate programs. It’s an amazing skill to have.

One Last Important Note: I have NO Faith in most of my internet affiliate income. Sure I think Amazon will be there for years to come. But the passion for ‘free music downloads’ will die with the next internet fad.

My suggestion is to create a hard product that you can sell. For instance, create and sell ebooks using your knowledge and those sales letters I mentioned. People are willing to pay fo your knowledge of the most mundane things. It’s not about being stupid, it’s about ease. If you can compile that knowledge and sell it, more power to you!

You will constantly need to fine tune everything. And learn how the search engines work.

Passive money on the internet is not unreasonable. But it’s also not easy. It takes quite a bit o’work and a lot of patience because it can take months for search engines to find out if you’re website is important.

Hope that helps some folks, slainte!

Detox For Life

Posted in World Of Health by admin on the June 24th, 2008

The need to detoxify the body has become increasingly more important over the past 50 years. We live in an environment that is overflowing with dangerous chemicals. They have permeated our soils, our water supply, and the air that we breath. Even the best efforts to eliminate toxins from your household and work place have become more difficult, since there are over 75,000 synthetic chemicals registered with the EPA- most of which you aren’t even aware of.

Every year, more than 24 billion pounds of toxic substances are released into the environment, only a fraction of which have been tested for safety or how they interact with each other. At the same time, chronic degenerative diseases are on the rise. The CDC estimates that 1 out of 2 men and 1 out of 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. 70 million American’s have been diagnosed with some form of cardiovascular disease and 16 million adults are suffering from asthma.

The link between the degenerative disease epidemic and the volume of toxic substances in our environment can no longer be ignored. In 2003, the Mt. Sanai School of Medicine tested 211 volunteers for possible contaminants and found an average of 91 pollutants in the volunteer’s blood samples. Of those 91 pollutants, an average of 53 were known carcinogens including PCBs, dioxins, pthalates, insecticides, pesticides and heavy metals. The group of volunteers included individuals who lived in a rural coastal community and had eaten organic foods for over 30 years.

So what can you do? Fortunately, there are a variety of detoxification methods available. I employ the following detoxification methods:

Far Infrared Sauna

Far Infrared (FIR) Saunas were invented in Japan and used almost exclusively there until the early 1980’s when Western practitioners discovered their success at detoxifying the body. FIR sauna’s use radiant energy instead of convectional heat and operate at a lower temperature than conventional saunas, ranging from 105 to 130 degrees.

FIR energy penetrates the body as much as 4.5 cm below the surface of the skin, reaching all layers of the dermis and subcutaneous fat. The energy is then converted to heat, causing the body to sweat, which removes toxic waste, including alcohol, nicotine, sodium, cholesterol, and certain heavy metals such as mercury, lead, arsenic, cadmium and aluminum.

In addition to the detox benefits, FIR heats up the body, causing your heart to beat harder and faster resulting in a safe cardiovascular workout. The heat also causes the peripheral blood vessels to dilate, stimulating circulation that delivers oxygen-rich blood to the cells and removes the waste. FIR has also been found useful as a treatment for pain, since it relaxes the muscles, reducing stress and tension.

Chelation Therapy

The accumulation of heavy metals in the body can lead to serious health concerns. Metals such as lead and aluminum can lead to neurological disorders, loss of balance, memory loss, lack of coordination and depression as well as attention deficit disorder and lowered IQ in children. Researchers are currently looking into the link between heavy metal toxicity and Alzheimer’s disease.

Chelation is the administration of a substance that binds with heavy metals in the body, forming salts that can then be excreted from the body. The chelator can be administered orally, intravaneously, rectally or topically on the skin. There are several different chelator substances, each of them tailored to bind to specific metals. Before deciding that chelation is for you, it is best to have your doctor test you for heavy metals. Once you’ve determined which heavy metals are present in your bloodstream, you can then determine the chelatation process that would be appropriate for your needs.

Body Cleanse

Body Cleanse, also known as Foot Detox, is a relaxing way to rid your body of toxins. It works by placing your feet in a basin of salted water containing an ion generator. A power supply attached to the ion generator delivers a small current (1.6 to 1.8 amps) creating positively and negatively charged ions in the water. The charged atoms act as a magnetic field, attracting oppositely charged particles in the body, drawing them out through osmosis. The charged particles target toxic substances within the body, attaching to them and then releasing them safely and painlessly into the water.

Lymphatic Therapy

The lymphatic system is a vital circulatory system and the body’s primary immune defense and waste eliminator. It is critical to managing the elimination of toxins from the body. The lymphatic system is comprised of over 600 “collection” sites called lymph nodes and has a massive network of collecting vessels. The primary responsibilities of the lymphatic system are to carry disease-fighting material to cells attacked by germs, transport the dead germs away and supply the heart with protein-rich plasma. When this system is blocked, the body becomes defenseless against attacks by viruses, fungi, bacterium and other toxins.

Because the lymphatic system is not driven by the heart, there is no engine pumping fluid through the vessels. The lymphatic system relies on pressure generated by activity to move the toxin-laden lymph fluid out of the cells. Without sufficient movement, the waste can build up in the lymph system and health problems can ensue. I have found two methods extremely beneficial to detoxify the lymphatic system: Rebounder Therapy and Light Beam Generator.

Rebounder Therapy works by getting the body in motion to encourage the lymphatic system. Jumping up and down on a mini-trampoline is one of the best ways to compress the lymph vessels and move lymph fluid throughout the system, without causing high-impact stress on the musculo-skeletal system.

A Light Beam Generator (LBG) is a device that can assist the body in detoxifying the lymphatic system. LBG is a non-invasive technology that uses extremely low current and negatively charged light photons providing compatible frequencies to the blocked areas in the lymphatic system, resulting in the cells correcting their out-of-balance condition. Rapid movement of waste material within the cells occurs, greatly increasing the delivery of waste material to the organs responsible for body waste disposal.

Healthful Supplementation

Due to both the increased use of synthetic fertilizers and the over cultivation of farmland, the grains, fruits and vegetables grown on most farms today lack the important nutrients that the body requires. More and more, the soil is being depleted of vitamins, minerals and necessary nutrients due to man-made changes (i.e., construction of dams and absence of floods). Today, the food we eat probably has only 25% of the nutritional value that it had just 100 years ago. Because of this, we are sorely lacking in the vital nutrients that assist our bodies in detoxification.

Without the proper nutrients, the body cannot function at an optimal level and is powerless to fight off dietary carcinogens and repair damaged DNA. I recommend that all of my patients take a daily food-based multivitamin. It is both important and necessary to replenish the body with magnesium and potassium for heart health, selenium to reduce skin disease, iron to combat fatigue, colds and anemia, and folic acid to ward off cancer. In addition, I advise that the multivitamin be made from organic greens such as grasses, vegetables, sprouted grains, herbs to provide the maximum benefits.

In the 21st century we are faced with a degenerative disease epidemic. Each day, new chemicals are invented with the intention of making life easier, but these same chemicals are creating health problems that no one anticipated. It is imperative that you protect yourself from these dangerous toxins by detoxifying your body regularly. Don’t wait for a health ailment to arise to take action. Being proactive today can prevent problems down the line. Ask your doctor to evaluate your toxic body burden and discuss with him or her the right detoxification method for you. Ridding your body of the harmful substances will make you feel like a new person and protect your health from succumbing to degenerative disease.

Cheap Payday Cash Advance Loans - 3 Tips on How to Find One

Posted in Living With Loans by admin on the June 24th, 2008

Perhaps you have seen an advertisement for cheap payday cash advance loans. Payday cash advances are quick loans you can get to cover unexpected expenses until your next payday. Unexpected expenses may include car repairs, home repairs, etc. These loans are not lines of credit, and must be repaid within a specified time. Although payday cash advance loans have certain advantages, they carry very high interest rates and fees. Those who neglect to repay cash advance loans may add to their financial worries. Fortunately, there are ways to save money and receive a cheap payday cash advance loan.

Compare Lenders and Fees

You have the option of obtaining a quick payday cash advance from local lenders, or from online lenders. Applying for a payday loan online is easy and convenient. Moreover, online presents the opportunity for you to compare rates and lender fees. Payday loans are attractive because you can be approved for up to $1000 with no credit check or collateral. However, the fees incurred for receiving the loan are high. Because payday lenders must include all fees on applications, this allows you to compare fees and ultimately save a few bucks.

Borrow Small Sums of Money

It is tempting to borrow more money than necessary. The payday cash advance loan lender may approve you for the maximum amount of $1000. Avoid borrowing additional money. The interest fees for a higher amount will increase the final loan amount, which may make it more difficult for you to repay. Thus, it is wise to borrow in small increments.

Repay the Money Swiftly

If you are aware that you cannot come up with the money to payback a payday cash advance, do not apply for the loan. Although payday cash advance loans allow installment payments, the loan will continue to incur interests during this time, which will increase the amount due. Putting off repaying the loan or refusing to repay the loan will result in expensive penalties. Aside from gaining interests, you will be responsible for paying late fees. The key to obtaining a cheap payday cash advance loan is to quickly repay loan and avoid additional fees.

Building A Model Rocket Can Be A Great Learning Experience

Posted in Sports Management by admin on the June 20th, 2008

Building and flying model rockets can be a great way for students of any age to learn a bit about the basic rules of physics. Although model rockets may look more like toys than like educational tools, during the process of building and launching a model rocket any enthusiast is bound to pick up quite a bit of knowledge about the forces that govern physical motion. Even if your child is anything but an honor roll student, after spending a fun weekend together constructing your own model rockets your son or daughter will be able to confidently explain important scientific concepts like weight and thrust. These topics make up the backbone of the study of aerodynamics.

When flying a model rocket, you will be able to observe Newtonian physics in action. The basic laws of motion are on display for anyone watching a model rocket in the air to see. Learning about inertia, acceleration, and friction are key parts of building a rocket that will succeed off of the ground. This fact can help spark your child’s interest in science.

Sometimes, taking learning out of the classroom can help a student gain mastery in a subject matter that they are not fully absorbing within the school setting. Often, a child whose learning style clashes with that of his or her teacher will feel a subject is too difficult for them, and this is especially true in the sciences which can be very intimidating for students. By taking physics into your own backyard, you can encourage your child to approach science in a fun way that will help them build confidence.

Your son or daughter may not even be aware that when they are measuring the dimensions of their model rocket during the planning phase before they begin to build, that they are dealing with the same scientific principles that can feel beyond their grasp in a classroom setting. By giving your child a chance to absorb this kind of information outside of the pressures of the school room, you may be sowing the seeds for an enduring interest in the subject matter. The key to letting this kind of educational experience unfold is not to pressure your child along the way.

Have reference books on hand in case questions about topics like inertia and acceleration come up, but don’t force your child to consider these issues unless they become relevant. Strive to create a playful and relaxed atmosphere that will make your son or daughter comfortable enough to indulge his or her natural curiosity about how and why the rocket works. In this way, you can ease your child into learning the fundamentals of physics.

Direct Mail Still Works For Lead Generation

Posted in Marketing Center by admin on the June 20th, 2008

You probably wonder why when you go home to your mailbox everyday and open it up there’s dozens and dozens of postcards and other direct mail pieces sitting waiting for you everyday. If you’re like me you’re probably tired of having to weed all that junk mail out and drop it straight into the recycling bin before you even get inside the door of your house. Well the cold hard fact is that companies spend a lot of money on direct mail because it works. Direct mail is still a great way to get to specific prospects with a specific offer and this is no less true in the B to B space than it is in the B to C space.

Companies that put together compelling offers, purchase the proper lists and have a strong letter or piece of ad copy can still generate very respectable response rates from direct mail campaigns. Many companies use that as a tool in order to generate first level leads into their system that they can then nurture along through email campaigns or telemarketing; they can be qualified through telemarketing.

Other companies use direct mail in order to approach companies that they want to market to and warm them up to sales calls. You can target personalized letters to the executives that you want to reach inside your target prospect company and then following up with a direct sales phone call with the goal of selling an appointment and getting in front of a customer.

How to Prevent Your Golf Swing from Breaking Down with Golf Fitness Exercises

Posted in Sports Management by admin on the June 20th, 2008

It happens to all of us. We loose our golf swing, make some type of unknown modification in how we swing the club, and everything falls apart. What can we do to prevent our golf swing from leaving us?

Remember this saying as you continue to read this article; “Proper Preparation Precedes Success and Confidence”. Think about this phrase for a moment and then keep reading.

I write about this subject because of an e-mail I received from a fellow golfer. The e-mail read:

“Sean, while out practicing I appear to have injured a muscle(s) in my back just below my left shoulder, and also around the outside of my left side rib cage. I have tried to continue to play golf through this injury, hoping it would get better but I had to stop. Hitting down and through the ball proved to very difficult and I seemed to be pulling out of shots early and topping the ball on my iron shots a lot.

Do you have any golf fitness exercises in your book which will heal the injury and prevent a re-occurrence?”

Absolutely! I do have golf fitness exercises to help you with the prevention of such an injury occurring.

But let’s get back onto the topic of this article and that is the loss of our golf swing.

“Loosing” your golf swing can occur for a number of reasons. Typically, they fall into one of 3 categories:

1) Mechanical

2) Physical

3) Mental

A loss of your golf swing on the mechanical side of the equation is pretty simple to understand. Essentially, you have made an adjustment in the mechanics of your golf swing causing compensations to occur. These compensations result in poor shots and possibly a great deal of frustration, if you do not know what is happening.

Often times the amateur is completely unaware of the changes they have made wreaking havoc on their golf swing.

How do you go about solving such a situation?

Through proper instruction from a qualified teacher is the first part of this equation. A qualified teaching pro will be able to diagnose the problem and provide you guidance on how to fix it.

The ball is then in your court, meaning you must use this information and go practice (remember, proper preparation precedes success or confidence).

The second reason for the “loss” of your golf swing is a publicized matter, and it is your body.

Remember it is your body that swings the golf club. If your body is unable to swing the golf club properly, the ability to swing it without compensations will occur.

The e-mail above is an example of such a problem. The amateur golfer has incurred an injury as a result of the body not being flexible, strong, or powerful enough to swing the golf club properly over a period of time.

Keep in mind the golf swing requires certain levels of flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power to swing the golf club correctly. If any one of these facets within your body is not up to par (no pun intended, but it fits real well doesn’t it?), the swing will suffer.

Often times body impairments causing you to “loose” your swing are not as severe as an injury (they will get that way if ignored), but rather they are a slight discomfort, muscle pull, or fatigue. Which cause compensations to occur in your golf swing.

Again, we can go back to the phrase “proper preparation precedes success and confidence”. You must properly prepare your body for the golf swing. This is where golf fitness exercises are beneficial.

Golf fitness exercises develop the levels of flexibility, balance, endurance, strength, and power within the body to swing the golf club properly. Golf fitness exercises prepare the body to swing the golf club just as practice ingrains the mechanics of the golf swing.

We finally come to the third category, the mental aspect of golf and fitness. Mental blocks, certain thought processes, or a lack of confidence can directly affect your golf swing.

I have found through my work over the years with professional athletes the development of a sound mental approach to golf begins with the body and progresses from this point to swing mechanics.

If you develop a strong foundation in your body, it provides you confidence that you can perform the mechanics of the golf swing correctly.

Once the physical foundation is developed, you can create the optimal swing mechanics on top of this foundation. Once these two “building blocks” are in place. The mental approach towards the game is confident, relaxed, and focused. Again, let’s go back to the phrase; “proper preparation precedes success and confidence.” Confidence in your golf game can only occur if the physical foundation and fundamentals of the golf swing are in place.

To summarize, “loosing” your golf swing can be attributable to essentially 3 different categories. These categories are your golf swing mechanics, your body, and your mental approach to the game. To minimize the possibility of “loosing” your golf swing, develop a flexible, strong, and powerful body to support your golf swing mechanics. On top of this body, develop an efficient golf swing. This will allow your mental approach to be focused, relaxed, and confident.

If you are confident in your body’s’ ability to swing the golf club, the mechanics of your swing to execute the shot, the ability to mentally focus will be much easier. This is what separates good golf shots from bad golf shots on the golf course.
